Performing over 105 shows in more than 40 cities as part of a year-long world tour, acclaimed Hong Kong veteran audio engineers Daniel Kwan and Mike Wong enjoy the quality and consistency of Sennheiser and Neumann audio equipment.
46-year-old Cheung, widely
known by titles such as God
of Songs, Heavenly King and King of Cantopop, has again won the hearts of fans globally with his versatility and singing prowess during the Jacky Cheung World Tour 07. For
this series of concerts, Sennheiser specially customised a gold SKM 5200 with the Neumann KK 105 S capsule with ‘Jacky Cheung’ engraved on it.
“When Jacky Cheung sings, everyone listens,” said
Daniel Kwan, front-of-house engineer. “But let me
propose this: when Jacky
sings with the SKM 5200, everyone is mesmerized.”

Jacky Cheung’s technical crew (l/r): Daniel Kwan (FOH Engineer), Mike Wong (Monitor Engineer), and Dolby Sham (Technical Manager) “The SKM 5200 paired with the KK 105 capsule has been brilliant for over 105 shows now — it sounds perfectly the same without any problems whatsoever,” he noted.
Wong, Cheung’s monitor engineer, pointed out that the KK 105 S capsule had a warm quality and complements Cheung’s voice. “Even though the
KK 105 is a condenser, it’s easy to manage on-stage and feedback is never a problem. Sennheiser also accorded remarkable support during the world tour, which made my role all the easier.”
The Jacky Cheung World Tour 07 began last February in Las Vegas, and has also travelled to cities such as Auckland, Guangzhou, Macau, Sydney, Taipei, Tokyo and Toronto.
Fans at his most recent performance in Singapore on 5th and 6th January numbered 8,000, and they lapped up familiar favourites such as Kiss Goodbye and Loving You More Each Day, even though Cheung had last performed here in July 2007.
Other than his romantic ballads
and bantering, he also enacted scenes from the Snow.Wolf.Lake musical and his film Perhaps,
Love. The endearing artiste will wrap up his world series when he takes the stage in Hong Kong on Jan 2008.
Vince Tan, Sennheiser’s relations manager for the Asia-Pacific region, said: “We’re very pleased that the customised SKM 5200 has met the expectations of Daniel and Mike. Their affirmation is indeed a boost to Sennheiser and we definitely look forward to future partnerships.”
