Here are a couple of last-minute items that didn't make it into our NAMM Report concerning Muse Research, Inc. At their booth, the company was demonstrating a very cool new technology that allows users to install Windows VST plug-ins on their Receptor hardware without requiring any additional files or preparation. This is huge! Previously, Receptor required specific installer files that were provided by Muse Research, but this new technology will let anyone install software using just the .exe or setup file that comes with the virtual instrument or effect itself. This will greatly expand the range of software that you can run on the platform. The Direct Install technology also works with the Native Instruments Service Center, letting users install any and all NI software using just the installer discs that come with the software package. This technology will let the installed base of Receptor customers quickly and painlessly install the wildly popular Komplete 5 software collection on their Receptors. The Direct Install technology is expected to ship in the first quarter of 2008. But that's not all! Muse Research also showed Receptor running the entire line of Antares Audio Technologies' vocal and instrument processing software at their booth. They were demonstrating Antares' Auto-Tune 5 pitch correction software, along with the AVOX collection of vocal processing plug-ins that includes THROAT, DUO, CHOIR, PUNCH, and SYBIL. Finally, the company was also showing the new Antares Harmony Engine Vocal Modeling Harmony Generator, which features four independently controllable formant-correct voices. We've been fans of the Muse Research Receptor for a long time, and this only makes it significantly more powerful and easier to use!
